School Rankings
Rankings are often used by students to get a better understanding of their chosen universities. Of course, while rankings are important, they should not be the sole reason to choose a university. Course content, location, access to professors, value for money, etc are all significant criteria that you should consider. Your UKEAS counselor will be able to provide more insights into these areas and you should always go “beyond” the rankings when making your choice. Bear in mind too, that most rankings are aimed at UK students and therefore many criteria are not suitable for international students. Lastly, universities may rank very differently in the various ranking schemes. Ask your UKEAS counselor for more information and you will benefit from their free, impartial advice. Research Assessment Exercise
- The Research Assessment Exercise is a complete university ranking. This is the only government ranking exercise and focuses primarily on research, as the name implies.

- Guardian University Guide Ranking Table. This is primarily an undergraduate ranking and is aimed at UK students, provided by a major national newspaper.

The Times
- The Times Complete University Rankings. Again this is a UK focused ranking, from a major national newspaper.

- The Sunday Times Complete University rankings. Possibly one of the better known rankings from a sister newspaper to The Times. It caters mainly for UK students.

- The association ranks postgraduate management programmes with a primary focus on the MBA degree.

- These rankings are provided by a well known business magazine, and also focus primarily on the MBA offerings of leading business schools.
